WHAT SHOULD I/WE WEAR?

No graphic tees. Kind of a joke, but not really. I just don’t think graphic tees photograph all that well — unless it is intentionally used as part of your story. Then maybe I’ll make an exception ; )

My advice to clients is to choose outfits that you feel comfortable in. If you feel comfortable, you’ll be confident. And that will show in your photographs. As far as colors and all that — go with outfits that compliment, but aren’t too matchy-matchy. Don’t be afraid to layer, and mix and match patterns (but don’t go overboard). WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SHOOT?

Ideally, because I choose to shoot using available natural light, the best times to shoot are in the early mornings or late evenings (about 1-2 hours before sunset) when the light outside is soft. This is the time of day that will provide the most flattering light for your photos. If we’re shooting indoors, it all just depends on the natural light available at the location that you choose.

WHERE SHOULD WE SHOOT?

I like to tell clients to think of a place that holds meaning to you (where you got engaged, a first date, etc.) or a place that you enjoy. The photos I take are going to be part of your story — so choose a place that you connect with. That helps big time in making the session unique and personal to you. Leave the rest up to me.

WHAT IF I’M CAMERA SHY?

So am I!

What I tell clients is this: think of our session as an opportunity to spend quality time together. Enjoy each other’s company and just love one another. Laugh, hug, kiss — all you need to do is have fun. I’ll offer some guidance, but most of it will come naturally : )

DO YOU MIND IF WE BRING PROPS?

I don’t mind at all — but, I would suggest to be thoughtful about the props you choose. Sometimes, props can be distracting if they are forced into images for the sake of using a prop; however, if it’s incorporated into a session’s overall “theme”, then I think it is okay! Use your best judgement, and let me know if you need a second opinion.

WILL WE RECEIVE DIGITAL IMAGES?

Yes! You’ll receive high resolution JPG images and they’re HUGE files.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE RECEIVE?

At the very minimum, you will receive 30-40+ images for portrait and engagement sessions.  You could have 100 so-so images that you won’t print and just store away in a box, or five amazing images that you blow up into canvas prints for your wall. See where we’re going with this?

As for weddings, while we prefer quality over quantity, you can expect to receive 600-800 images of your wedding. Roughly 75-100 images per hour of coverage.

WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
For portraits sessions, we try our darndest to get your images to you within 3-5 weeks. Wedding photos take 8-10 weeks.
WHAT IS YOUR EDITING PROCESS?

We edit & color correct all our images… what you see on our site is what you see in your gallery and your final files.

CAN WE RECEIVE THE RAW IMAGES?

Sorry, that’s like asking a painter for preliminary sketches. And besides, RAW files require professional software to process them ; )

CAN WE RECEIVE ALL UNEDITED IMAGES FROM THE WEDDING?

No. The only images that don’t make the cut are those that are unflattering eye blinks, duplicates, or just not the best photo. Rest assured that we certainly won’t exclude images unless they fall into any of the above categories.

HOW WILL WE RECEIVE THE IMAGES?

You will receive your final images in an online gallery personalized for you. Here you will be given a personal 4-digit PIN to download them. We LOVE the galleries and your family & friends will too.

Same goes for weddings! How many weddings have you attended and never seen the images? Too many. We believe these images are meant to be shared. You’ll be able to easily email the gallery link to anyone.

DO WE HAVE PRINT RIGHTS?

Yes & we encourage it! I (Kat) believe in photography – but more than that I believe in photographs.

To me, there’s nothing like having a physical print to hold in your hands. I think it’s important for clients to see their images on something that is not a computer screen.

WHAT ARE PRINT RIGHTS?

Some photographers require clients to order prints through them…that’s so they can charge whatever price they want. We believe your great aunt in California should have the right to print them as she pleases so you are welcome to order prints entirely on your own without our involvement. Although nothing beats the quality of professional printing labs, we’d be happy to give you the names of inexpensive & quality print sites so you aren’t disappointed by the quality at drug stores…

CAN WE ORDER PRINTS THROUGH YOU?

Yes! Your gallery will let you shop and order prints to ship directly to your house. And if you want a 4×6 of every image we can make mass orders for you to save you time. Prints come in 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, and up! Price ranges from $1 to $7 per print depending on size.

CAN WE ORDER AN ALBUM THROUGH YOU?
Yes! We custom design all of our albums. And if you didn’t book a Collection with an album already included, you have up to 1 month after your wedding to decide if you want to add one. Email us for more info and pricing.
HOW DO WE GO ABOUT BOOKING YOU?

Easy! We require a 50% deposit and signed agreement to hold your date.  We book on a first come first serve basis.

DO YOU CHARGE SALES TAX?

Yes. All of our Collections include sales tax.

IF WE ONLY RECEIVE DIGITAL IMAGES DO WE STILL HAVE TO PAY SALES TAX?

Yes. We run a legitimate business and the state of IL requires it. Sorry!

WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA DO YOU USE?

We use two Canon 5DMark3 bodies with several Canon EF L Series Lenses. And we love to nerd out over gear if you want to talk shop.

DO YOU HAVE BACKUP GEAR?

Yes, we always bring along extra camera bodies, lenses, flashes, memory cards and batteries.

DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE A SECOND SHOOTER?

No. When I photograph small intimate weddings (50-150 guests) its not always necessary. But I do require one for larger weddings or if you need me to be in two places at the same time  : )

DO YOU ALWAYS BOOK THE SAME SECOND SHOOTER?

Yes & No. I have a list of several artists to photograph alongside me. Because I hire second shooters that also shoot weddings professionally, it’s dependent on their availability. But I do only book shooters I know and trust that they will share a similar style and personality as me.

DO WE HAVE TO FEED YOU AT THE WEDDING?

JK. Our clients are the best and we’ve actually never been asked this…they are always happy to feed us! We do prefer to eat while the bride and groom eat (because who wants photos of that?) but we don’t need a table setting. So in advance, just ask if your caterer can make us a plate it will save time so we can be up and shooting as quick as we can.

DO YOU ENJOY WORKING TOGETHER?

No, we cannot stand each other.
